Truckee Meadows Pet Aftercare
It is our mission to provide the pet families of Northern Nevada quality, dignified, and environmentally-responsible aftercare for their beloved pets.
Truckee Meadows Pet Aftercare is Northern Nevada’s first and only pet aftercare provider that offers a more natural and less environmentally-harmful option to honor the life of your beloved pet. We use the technology of bio-cremation to achieve this, also known as alkaline hydrolysis or aquamation. Bio-cremation uses a combination of water, heat, and alkalinity to accelerate the organic decomposition process. Because there is no combustion in this process, bio-cremation offers several advantages over conventional incineration-based cremation:
- Emits 90% less greenhouse gases
- No ashes are destroyed
- There is no commingling of ashes from other pets (when individual bio-cremation is chosen)
Our Values
Quality of Service Paramount to our mission is to provide flawless aftercare to your beloved pet. We employ a strict quality management system that assures your pet will be 100% accounted for from when they enter our care to when we return them to you.
Environmental Responsibility Truckee Meadows Pet Aftercare strives to minimize its impact on the ecosystem. By using modern alkaline hydrolysis technology, we are able to provide a higher quality service than conventional cremation while at the same time leaving a significantly smaller ecological footprint.

Our Process
Truckee Meadows Pet Aftercare utilizes a strict quality management system that ensures your pet is accounted and respected for while under our care. We use the following system:
- Any special requests from our clients are noted and followed
- Each pet is assigned a unique identification tag that accompanies them as soon as they enter our care and stays with them through their entire journey with us.
- For pets transported by us, they are carefully placed in their own secure compartment in our transportation van and safely driven to our aftercare facility.
- Upon your pet’s arrival to our facility, they are carefully unloaded and placed in their own compartment in our cold storage.
- When ready for the bio-cremation process, your pet is identified; a paw print and fur clipping is taken if requested; then they are respectfully placed in their own marked private compartment (with individual service) in our alkaline hydrolysis machine.
- The bio-cremation cycle is started, and in a period of 20 hours it is complete.
- Your pet’s ashes are gently removed from their private compartment, then prepared for placement into a an urn (with individual bio-cremation), or will be scattered by our staff on a private ranch near the Carson Range (with communal bio-cremation).
- The urn and any other ordered memorial items are then returned to your veterinary hospital, home, or can be picked up at our facility.
